Sweet Part 2

Ok - here it is - the most fabulous item I scored yesterday while out at garage sales:

A vintage cake tin in the most beautiful shade of buttercream yellow. It was buried deep in a box that I am so happy I took the time to dig through:) The best part was the price -
25 cents!!!!!!
The man selling it said it belonged to his wife's grandmother and they just wanted to get rid of it. I also bought this for 25 cents. It was almost black with grunge so I polished it up a little bit and now it will hold my daily jewelry on my dresser.

What's the best thing you've bought at a garage sale?

I used to live in a historic neighborhood in Mobile, Alabama. It had the best yard sales ever!! I got a leaded glass window and a set of antique spice jars at one. Those would be my all-time prizes of yard sale items. And then there was the stickly chair that got away--I'll always regret that one.

Raesha, I found your blog this morning while searching for those who love to scrapbook. Your garage sale find got me hooked. My favorites I've found were a '60's flame vase and a hand carved owl (reminds me of one of my grandfather's), and finally two window frames with the lead glass windows from a historic home being updated in Groesbeck, TX, where our ranch is. Your ribbon swap sounds like fun. I don't have much ribbon so I'll go out and purchase some then sign up. So don't put me on the list yet. I'm getting ready to leave for a minimum of ten days and as much as three weeks, as we have heifers calving towards the end of the week and I need to be at the ranch. I've also added your blog to my site. Kim

What great finds!! I really love the cake tin!! I can't think of anything exciting I've found at a garage sale, but last year one of my kids found some vintage star wars toys in perfect shape - and he was so excited, the lady just gave them to him. My sister lives in an area with lots of people with $$$, so she finds great things at sales - last fall she got me a couple very nice longaberger baskets from a garage sale--that was exciting!

Wow! That is a great find. I love the colour and it looks like it's still in perfect condition. You would never know that silver tray was black at all. Both look fantastic.
Me! I haven't been to a garage sale for ages. I must do it again to find some great old fabrics etc.
