Good guesses!!

I loved everyone's guesses from last week about my thrifted outfit.

It's not the boots, you just blogged them! Not the skirt, too obvious. Maybe the camisole?

the undershirt/camisole.

WAY TO GO ladies! You both guessed correctly. The only item that was not from the thrift store was my blue camisole:) That was a lot of fun and I think I'm going to do it again really soon!!!

PS I'm sending you both a KISS in the mail so start stalking your mailman!!

Proud Mama

My little Miss S is turning in to quite the crafter lately....here are two of her latest crafts:

A couple of little crayon softies. One is of little Oreo the gerbil and the other was inspired by Happy Zombie's skull:)

Miss S's Softies

And a little paper mache Easter egg she made while at a friend's house this last week. Poor Miss S spent most of her Spring break sick as a dog but was finally well enough to spend the day with her friend's on Thursday and Friday. They made this craft together on Thursday and it is our one and only Easter decoration up right now:)

Can You Guess?

Uploaded - 3\25\09

All day yesterday I felt totally frumpy - it was just one of those days where I thought I looked cute when I left the house but I really didn't:( So today I dressed up a little bit for work and I felt great all day:) Only one item that I'm wearing today is not from the thrift store - can you guess which item it is? (Here's a hint - it's not any of my jewelry or my underwear:)) If you guess correctly, I might just send you a little prize in the mail:)

Just loafing around....

in my new loafers. $9.00 at the thrift store and they are Borns! Not too bad for a $95 pair of shoes:) I've been on the hunt for Born's forever - I find them quite often but they are either too tiny or too huge for my average old 8.5 size feet. These ones fit perfectly!

Next I'm on the hunt for some like this.....

Handmade by Me for You

Thanks to Dawn for posting this:)

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:
  • I make no guarantees that you will like what I make but I will do my best.
  • It'll be done in the next couple months.
  • You have no clue what it's going to be - that's the fun part!

It could be artwork, a handmade journal, a mini quilt, something sewn or crocheted. What will it be? You'll have to wait and see! I reserve the right to do something completely bizarre or completely normal.

Here's the fine print:
In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note of your own and make 5 things for 5 others. What could be more fun!!!!(change the above to stuff you do) Some ideas you could do for others: (artwork, CD's, Burn a DVD, write a poem, make a mini book, send a photograph (a printed one, not e-mailed. etc...) Oh, and you will need to provide me with your snail mail address You can send that in a message or e-mail.

I've found that I am really inspired to make things for other people. Yes, I love to create for myself but I get so much joy out of creating for others:) This is great way to spread that joy:)

The Last Two Days

I have relaxed, slept in, done a little cleaning, done a few chores, and watched a ton of CSI and CSI Miami. I am feeling a little rejuvenated and ready to face another week. Except I woke up this morning with a raging headache. But thanks to two Excedrin migraine I am already feeling better:)

Friday was my big day ALL alone for most of the day. Hubby forgot I had the day off so he was really surprised to see me at home when he got home from work at about 3:30. Then he proceeded to bug the crap out of me most of the rest of the night. Boys!! Grrr....he was driving me crazy!

Saturday was spent all together, pretty much all day....Hubby just started having Saturdays off after about 6 years of working Saturdays. I'm still not quite used to it cause it totally disrupts the way Miss S and I normally spend on Saturdays. Don't get me wrong - I love spending time with Hubby but I'm still adjusting:) Late in the afternoon he went to the gym, Miss S went to a friend's house, and I watched CSI:) Nice:)

Now for some random photos:

I hit Savers on Friday and had SO much fun! I spent almost two hours there just leisurely looking at everything. I came home with lots of wonderful goodies for not a lot of moolah....

Vintage pillowcases, fabric and three Vera napkins in almost perfect condition. I already washed them and we used them at dinner last night. Just perfect for our little family of three.

Vintage patterns galore...pure loveliness. Some of these will probably appear in my poor neglected Etsy shop....we are going to DisneyWorld in May and I want to have $1,000.00 in spending money....so far I have about $200 saved up so that means I need to get on the ball during the next two months. Ergo, that means I'm going to hopefully list a bunch of goodies in my Etsy shop - just wait until you see something really cool I've been making the last few weeks to sell:):) Totally cool.

And little baby Oreo (who I call Oreo Solorio in my mind - I love you Mon!!) She is getting so big and getting more and more tame. Miss S is still to nervous to hold her but she loves to pet her and give her kisses and play with her while I am holding her. Yes I kiss our gerbil on the lips. But you probably already knew that:)

A Recipe

Sweet Lauren asked, actually begged, for the recipe for the rolls I made a few weeks ago. I found the recipe at one of my absolute favorite websites - Everyday Food Storage

Naomi’s Rolls

1/2 C. Sugar
1 Extra-Large Egg (OR 2 T. Dry Egg Powder + 1/4 C. Water)
1 T. Shortening
1 C. Milk (OR 3 T. Dry Powdered Milk + 1 C. Water)
1 t. Salt
4 1/2-5 C. Flour (enough to make a sticky dough)
1 pkg yeast (2 1/2 t. yeast), softened in 1/2 C. lukewarm water

Beat sugar and egg. Scald milk; cool (SEE NOTE BELOW). Then add to sugar and egg. Stir in shortening, yeast, salt, flour. Let rise about 2-2 1/2 hours. Shape, cut, rise again about 1/2-1 hour. bake at 400, about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 16 good sized rolls. You may want to double the recipe, as these rolls disappear fast!

**NOTE - One of the greatest things about using powdered milk in recipes is that you don’t have to scald it! So use powdered milk in any recipe calling for scalded milk with out scalding it!

Domesticity

I have been absolutely without question filled with the ho hums this week....I've had no desire to do anything, work is still kicking my butt, I'm too busy, and too lazy and just plain fed up with a lot of stuff this week. So let's focus on the positives instead.

Beautiful spring blossoms on the trees in our front yard...

Yummy, golden brown, yeasty rolls made from scratch last Sunday. We've snacked on them all week...next time I'm making a triple batch...

No bake cookies made with Miss S...the perfect lunch box treat for this past week...

A Quickie....

Yes, I know I'm overdue on announcing my giveaway winners....yes, I know I haven't posted in a while....yes, I know I'm lame:):) Actually - I'm just being completely lazy and quite enjoying it:)

BUT I wanted to post this quickie before I forgot about it.

Miss S has to make a poster about one of the Presidents for school. Last night I asked her which President she wanted to do her poster about. She said "I'm thinking either Teddy Bear Roosevelt or George Clooney."

HILARIOUS!!!!!
