I Made It Monday

with a whole lot of help from this fabulous lady:) I used some of my birthday photos of Miss S from Monique to make this little collage for the front room.

I'm trying really hard to freshen up our living room decor....it's been in a rut for way too long. This is the first of many projects I have in mind:)

It's Walk a Thon Time!!!

It's time for Miss S's annual school Walk a Thon!!! The Walk a Thon is her school PTA's major fundraiser. It helps fund lots of fun stuff at her school, including buses for field trips, teacher appreacition goodies and more!

Her goal for this year is $250.00.

Click on the link above to donate - any amount is wonderful and would be greatly appreciated by my darling Miss S. All donations are due no later than October 7.

Thrifty Thursday

Guess what I paid for all this?? $20.14...yep that's right!! Maybe not quite the score my sister recently had but an exciting day at Goodwill nonetheless:)

I bought:
5 books - two for me and three for Miss S
7 vintage Vogue patterns
4 new packs of cloth napkins
American angel
2 Tupperware divided covered bowls
6 mini flags
A bunch of fabric
and a brand new roll of cork board which is perfect for a new project I want to finish similar to this.

Just a Country Girl

You know, I never thought I'd be a die hard country fan....I hated country music until about 5 years ago....but now....wow I love it!!! My little concert series that I've attended this summer has been amazing! Sunday night was Justin Moore, Darius Rucker, and Brad Paisley. My boss had an extra seat in the 22nd row so I sold my grass tickets again and bought his ticket. It is a completely different show in the 22nd row as compared to being WAY back there in the grass:)

First up was Justin Moore - he was a darling performer with a cute little southern drawl.

Justin Moore

Next up was Darius Rucker - he played an amazing mix of his new stuff and old Hootie and the Blowfish hits. He was so genuine in his love for the country fans that have embraced him in his new career as a country artist. And he's wearing a John Lennon tshirt - what's not to love!!!!

Darius Rucker

And Brad Paisley absolutely rocked out! He is an amazing guitar player!!!! He was so energetic and really engaged the audience in everything he sang.

Brad Paisley

More Brad Paisley

Next up is Rascal Flatts on September 30 - I can't wait for that show!!!!

I Made It Monday

I love making ATCs though I haven't made any in forever. I signed up for Mary Ann's Mega ATC swap and spent a few hours creating last night (while watching CSI: New York)...I love how these turned out. Totally not what I had in mind when I started working but they evolved into something that is completely my style.

I think we all need a little more dreaming and growing in our lives and I hope that the recipients of these little cards love them:)

Sacred Sunday

Welcome welcome home to my dear brother-in-law Rick....safely home from Afghanistan today. What more could I ask for a Sacred Sunday post then having my sister's
beautiful family safely together again.

I will sleep better tonight knowing both my soldier boys are home
safe and sound for the time being.

Rick and Ian you are my heros:)

American Soldier by Toby Keith

I'm just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early,
I'm all business in my suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed up for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for the money, there's bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our futures, my responsibility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekend's been too strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
Oh, and I don't want to die for you,
But if dying's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with an honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an American Soldier, an American,
Beside my Brothers and my Sisters I will proudly take a stand.
When liberty's in jeopardy I'll always do what's right.
I'm out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight.
American Soldier,
I'm an American Soldier.

Yeah, an American Soldier,
An American.
Beside my Brothers and my Sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty's in jeopardy I'll always do what's right,
I'm out here on the front lines, so sleep in peace tonight.

American Soldier,
I'm an American,
American,
American Soldier.

Thrifty Thursday

I have finally captured the white whale....the elusive Moby Dick of my thrifting list....the fleece lined Crocs are now MINE - all mine!!!! I have been on the hunt for these for at least 3 years if not longer, they have been on my Christmas wish list for years, and still I never found or received a pair. Then over this winter I finally broke down and ordered some from Crocs directly - $19.99 on clearance was a pretty good deal but when they arrived I had ordered a size 9 in MENS! Needless to say that is not the same thing as size 9 in womens. So I returned them and ordered another pair. I was so excited to get the new box and open them up and put them on only to discovery I HAD YET AGAIN ORDERED SIZE 9 IN MENS!!! Seriously. So all the gust in my little fleece lined sails kind of went away. But then, finally last week I found a pair!! Practically brand new for only $5.99. I was so excited! I rushed home and put them right in the washing machine. After air drying they are now properly warming my toes and I look forward to many years together with my Moby Dick slippers.

Whatever I Want Wednesday

Holy heck I love three day weekends...we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves this Labor Day. Monday we went to our friends house in Tijeras for CHRISTMAS in September:) Seriously we have not gotten together since Thanksgiving last year so we had loads of birthday and Christmas presents to exchange.

Miss S and Ben - thoroughly engaged in something entertaining on the Wii...

We finally got to meet their new additions to their family - Tyson the boxer and Rosie the Boston Terrier - both rescued from the pound and both absolutely darling.

Dancing and singing Divas....Madison and Miss S rocking out to Taylor Swift...

We ended the day with an end of summer pool party at my boss's house....I could barely get Miss S out of the pool.
Miss S and Alli were the last two in the pool and wouldn't get out until Josh started the automatic pool cover....they barely squeaked out in time:)

And the best news of all for this Labor Day was I became an Auntie again...

Welcome to beautiful Miss Ruby....proud parents Ian and Tracy. I love love love her!! Can't wait to meet her in person and give her lots of little snuggles. Our of just my 6 brothers and sisters she is my 17th niece or nephew...and #18 is due in October! Woohoo!! I love being an aunt and spoiling all these little people.

Show Me Saturday

Last Saturday was my sweet sister-in-law's baby shower. As part of her present I made her a little diaper wipes case. Her theme for the baby's room is giraffes and I found this perfect little piece of fabric in my stash. It turned out SO darling! And only took about 15 minutes to make. I used the tutorial found here.....Diaper Clutch Tutorial.

I cut straight corners instead of rounding the top and I used snap tape that I also had in my stash for the closure instead of velcro. I was so excited at how darling this is and I plan to make tons more of them for baby gifts:)

Whatever I Want Wednesday

Some of you know that I play the organ at my church. I also select the hymns that we play....so Sunday was quite an adventure. I chose hymn #288 for the closing hymn, but proceeded to play hymn #289 instead! It took the whole congregation about two verses to realize what happened...and it took me until the last verse to realize what I'd done! At least I can say it's a Sunday that most won't ever forget:)
