Happy 30th Sista!!

My sweet sister turned 30 on June 23rd - here's a pic of the quilt I made for her. Her husband is in the Navy so I thought the flags were appropriate. It arrived at her house in 29 Palms today and I'm happy to report that she loved it!:)

I had a hugely successful day at the local Savers - I'll post pictures of a few items I bought after I get home from work tomorrow. For now, it's off to bed to watch Star Trek: TNG - our nightly tradition. Miss S knows all the characters names and can sing the theme song - our own little trekkie!!

Sunday Tradeables

I found the digital camera - it was right where I put it:) I feel like I'm losing my mind sometimes.

Here's the pic of Miss S's materpiece - I really like the colors that she used.

As promised - here are my first two items up for trade. The first is from the Singer sewing reference library - The Perfect Fit. Book is in good condition buthas a few markings inside. The second item is so cool - a set of ten coasters feauturing "Ikebana" flower arrangements. If you are interested in trading for these items please let me know. I will post more items next Sunday.

Sorry for the sideways shots of the tradeables. If one of you readers knows how to rotate pictures when you post them, please let me know!

Font Fever

Yes, it is 2:15 am and I am still awake. Hubby gets up at 3:00 am for work so I might as well just stay up until he gets up. I have been productive but haven't been able to do too much for fear of making enough noise to wake up hubby and Miss S.

Are you as addicted to cool fonts as much as I am?? I found this awesome site - www. 1001freefonts.com - check it out! Tons of cool fonts..I've already downloaded several and will probably download more. I'd love to know the names of some of your favorite fonts, so I can add them to my computer.

Saturday is a special day

I can hardly see straight cause I was so busy today! Hubby and Miss S are already fast asleep, but I had to take a migraine pill and the caffeine in it is keeping me up. I'm looking forward to a few quiet hours to clean in our office.

Miss S and I started the day at her art class - it was her last session and they made bubble wrap paintings. Soo cute! I told her we would buy a frame and put it on her wall. DRATS - I wanted to post a pic of her picture but I don't know where hubby put the digital camera!!

After a couple quick stops at local garage sales - got a few things, but nothing really amazing - we hooked up with some friends for a pool party for their two daughters who turned 3 and 5 this week. It was an all day party which started at the pool for a few hours, then off to one of their houses for dinner, cake and games. Then home to do chores for a little while. It was hotter than heck today but luckily we did pretty good at applying the sunscreen at the pool and we both only have a few little red spots.

I spent the evening sewing for the Polka Dot Swap I am doing - I made four little items from blue and white polka dot fabric I found in my stash. I'll post photos after the package has made it to its recipient.

Semi Successful Softie

If you can't tell - this is supposed to be a little lamb:) I made it using the free lambkin pattern at www.patternbee.com. It turned out ok - I really like the fabric I used, but I didn't stuff the nose enough. Oh well - not too bad for my first attempt at a softie. I loved making it but I definitely will only do bigger softies in the future. This little guy is only about 5 inches square.

Miss S and I just got home from almost an hour and a half at the brand new Hancock Fabrics that opened by our house. They were having a huge grand opening sale. All notions were half off, 80% of the fabric was $1.37 a yard and McCalls and Butterick patterns were $.99. I tried to contain myself though and only spent about $40.00. I will be making two pillows, two sets of pajamas, and two outfits for Miss S, a skirt for myself, and I bought a bunch of stuff for the Ribbon Swap and Polka Dot Swap I am doing through Swap-Bot.

I constantly feel guilty after shopping as my house is already crammed to the gills. Shopping just makes me feel GOOD though!! I've decided to start a new link here where I will post thrift store or other goodies that I no longer want or have room for that I will be offering for trade. I'd love to trade for fabric, notions, ribbon, or handmade cards. I'll start taking pictures this weekend and posting the first round of items by Sunday. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle is one of my mottos!

All in all a good day

My birthday was great! I received lots of great presents - I'll post pictures of a few. From my hubby I received a ticket to go see Ringo Starr on July 2 here in Albuquerque. I will go by myself, which believe it or not is my preferred method of seeing concerts. I can make a fool of myself and not worry what anyone is thinking as odds are no one near me will know who I am!!! The CUTE pug card is from hubby and Miss S - we have two pugs so this sweet little image made my heart melt. The asian dining set is from one of my best friends, Miss C - she recently went to San Francisco and surprised me with these goodies from Chinatown. She also made us a delicious cake for my birthday.

Today has been, well, in one word HOT. The weather is hotter than heck and our swamp cooler is on the fritts. Hubby worked on it for a long time, finally got it working and then the motor broke. Another trip to Home Depot tomorrow.

Oh - the top pic is a sample of my most recent craftiness. Headbands for me and Miss S using the free pattern at www.HELLOmynameisHeather.com. Her blog is beautiful!

I hate Mondays

Thanks to my friend Moki for her plug on her site!! I have changed my comments setting so that anyone can leave comments...I love to read what others have to say about me:) Tell me what you like, what you don't like and what you would like to see here.

Mondays suck...but at least it's MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! We went out to dinner last night to celebrate and I plan on going to Krispy Kreme tonight for my FREE birthday donuts!! I have been seriously crafty lately, but three of the things I am working on are for gifts...the recipients read my blog so pictures will be posted a little later about those items. This weekend I made two tote bags, finished a quilt top, worked on another quilt top, made my first softie, and lamented that I did not have the freedom to be so creative every single day.

My first photos

My first attempt to post photos...not sure if I did it right, but this is a learning process!!! I couldn't figure out how to post a comment under each separate photo so I'm just doing them all here.
The three girls are me, Miss N and Moki - my pals and confidants. The picture of that HOT guy and little girl is my very own hubby and our daughter, Miss S. This picture was taken at Miss S's Pre-K graduation last month. The last one is yours truly - I'm hoping to add this to my profile so you see my goofy smiling face everytime you visit my blog.

Swap-bot swap: polka dot swap
I swap with Swap-bot!

Finally Friday!

I think this needs to be my new theme song...It's Finally Friday and I'm Tired as Hell!!! Sounds like a country song. It seemed like 5:00 would never get here today! We had a baby shower at work from 4-5 for our recptionist who is due any minute. That was fun and a nice way to end the day. She's having a boy so her cake was blue, not just the icing but the actual cake part was blue, too. Pretty weird but good.

I cried on the way home as I started thinking about my brother, who is deploying to Iraq in August. That put me in a funk, but I did manage to stop for a quick Goodwill look and boy am I glad I did. I have been wanting glass coasters for YEARS and I found not only one set but TWO sets today! One was the color of the day so that was even better! I found a cool Martha Stewart book on organizing - did I mention I love to organize? Lately I've just been buying books on organizing:) I also found a vintage copy of the Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck. Not too shabby!

Only three days until my birthday on the 19th...here comes the big 34! We're planning on going out on Sunday night to celebrate so if you know of any good places in the Albuquerque area let me know - I'm up for trying someplace new and not the same old same old.

I found an AWESOME site that is becoming one of "my loves" - it is www.swap-bot.com - check it out and sign up for some of the swaps. I am currently signed up for four of them. I love to swap too:)

Today

It has been a busy week and it is only Wednesday!! I am supposed to be working at home this afternoon but instead I stopped at the fabric store and at Saver's on the way home. No sooner did I get hom ethat my hubby and I headed out to buy a new pump for the swamp cooler and for a late lunch at Panda Express. Now I just want to take a nap! Hubby says I have all night to get my work done and he's right. I think I will lay down for just a FEW minutes....
I have no recollection of what I did on Monday other than work. Tuesday was GREAT! After work I went out with three friends to dinner, a show, and dancing to celebrate Moki's birthday. So fun! Got home and had to go through the back screen door cause I forgot my key and hubby wouldn't wake up when I knocked on the door. Took me FOREVER to fall asleep and then I just had weird dreams about buying birthday presents for my boss. I'm looking forward to snoozing tonight. Check out these links - they are some of my favorites:

Hubby is supposed to show me this week how to upload photos so I hope to post some pictures soon.

My Love

WOW! Two posts in my very first day as a blogger. My husband asked me that name of my blog and when I told him "My Love" he asked why. So here's the why. I am a HUGE Beatles fan and I also adore anything the fab four did solo. "My Love" is the name of one of Paul McCartney's songs...you know the one..."WO WO WO WO, My love does it good". I picked this because I want this blog to become about all the things that I love...like my family, my friends, movies, books. music, crafting, sewing, my dogs, organizing, baking, etc. The name just really clicked. Anyway, have a beautiful Sunday!

My First Post!!

Well, here I am...entering the world of on line blogging. My husband has had a blog for quite a while now but I never thought I would! Thanks to inspiration from my dear friend, Moki, I have now decided it is time. I can't promise how often and how much I will blog...but I have grand plans!
