Ben Siebel

I've fallen in love with all the Ben Siebel dishes I've seen popping up all over blogland. Call it the power of positive thinking but I found this today at the thrift shop - it's a serving platter in the Mikasa Duplex Eden pattern and will look wonderful on the table at the baby shower I'm hosting next week:) And it was a whopping $2.00.

Wild Life

These little froggy guys were everywhere in Florida and they came out in droves once the sun went down....I kind of figure they are like the crickets we get in Albuquerque or the slugs we had in Washington....a total plague to those that live there but exciting for visitors to see:) Actually I take that back...if you think a slug is exciting that is WEIRD! The only thing exciting about slugs is pouring salt on them and watching them shrivel up. That's mean I know but I've always considered the slug almost as bad as the cockroach. YUCK!!!!

Anyhoo....back to my little froggy friend....he's about the size of a quarter and absolutely darling....

He let me catch him and hold him for a minute. It was seriously all I could do not to give this guy a little kiss right on his little tiny froggy lips.

Swappy Blocks

I joined a new group on Flickr - Quilt Block Exchanges - Each month we make blocks for three different people. These are the three blocks I made for May's swap:

Block for Lucysquilts

Block for Isaacsmama

Block for Laplandyellow

I used all Heather Bailey prints, except the little green polka dot in the first block. I hope the recipients love them! I've already received two blocks made for me and they are AWESOME!!!

From Marja in the Netherlands:

And from Be13cca:

I can't wait until I have enough blocks for a quilt!!

What a week!!

Our week in Orlando was awesome!!! Other than the torrential rains ALL WEEK LONG it was perfect:) We made the best of it and wore our $1.00 ponchos from Target pretty much non-stop. We were able to go to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom for almost a full day each before the rain just got to be too much.

Miss S and her cousin on the Tea Cups. Yes, I braved it and rode it with them. I was a little green when I got off:)

Heading into Magic Kingdom. I am amazed at Disney's ingenious methods on moving vast amounts of people into and through all the parks and the various rides and attractions. Hubby was impressed too - he had to take a class on Queues his last semester and many of the principles he studied were all exemplified by Disney.

Miss S's favorite ride UNTIL we rode the Aerosmith Rock-n-Roller Coaster. She has declared that her new favorite ride:)

The Beauty and the Beast production at Hollywood Studios. We saw the Finding Nemo production at Animal Kingdom too.

We spent all week in a state of lightly rained on, soaking wet, and just barely dry. But we had fun and that's all that matters:)

Memorial Day

I just finished this book last night - pretty appropriate as we celebrate Memorial Day today.

It was a beautiful, touching book and I loved it. I've often thought that if I go back to school I might study American History with an emphasis on 1920-1950. What an amazing time.

Happy Day

A fairly stress free day at work....busy....but mostly stress free.
A big kiss from Miss S when I walked in the door.
4 yards of fabric from Ikea dropped off by a friend.
3 days until we leave for Disneyworld.
Season Finales of all three CSIs.
Bunco with the girls tonight.
The handsomest hubby in the world.
And my brother is on a plane coming home from Iraq.

What more could I ask for? I'm eternally grateful for this happy happy day.

Love Affair

With Miss S getting older there seem to be fewer and fewer times when she needs me to entertain her constantly....it makes me sad but it does allow me some freedom to devote more time to my favorite past times - sewing and reading.

I've pretty much been devouring this book the last two days....
I have 100 pages left and I seriously almost can't put it down. It is SO good! A little racy at times....but I love it:)

And I've been sewing like a mad woman. This is the skirt I mentioned last week - it turned out so cute! I bought this fabric in Oregon on vacation about 5 years and was finally inspired to use it:)

Three more summer shirts are almost done too - and just in time for Disneyworld:) NEXT SATURDAY we leave!! Holy moley I can't wait.

Dessert

It has been really hot the last couple days. Last night it was 84 in the house and 82 outside at about 7 pm. Our favorite dessert for those kinds of nights....

Vanilla ice cream, fresh sliced strawberries and chocolate syrup. Yum yum yum.

Why Hello There

It's already Wednesday and I'm just now posting about our fun weekend. Radio Disney sponsored a few concert on Saturday - Jordan Pruitt and Mitchel Musso. So Miss S and braved the crowds and spent literally ALL day there. We left the house at 10:30 and didn't get home until about5:30. I burnt myself to crisp which means summer has officially arrived for me:)

We had SO MUCH fun!!! Unfortunately Mitchel's concert was canceled at the last minute because of a crazy rain/hail storm but we did get to see him sing a couple songs for his sound check earlier in the day and he still did a meet and greet with the fans. Just looks at Miss S's smiling face!!

And the icing on the cake was the Miss S won the Radio Disney prize package that was given away!!! Over $200 worth of fun Hannah Montana and Disney stuff and a four pack to the local amusement park in town. That alone was worth my sunburn:)
