A vintage cake tin in the most beautiful shade of buttercream yellow. It was buried deep in a box that I am so happy I took the time to dig through:) The best part was the price -
The man selling it said it belonged to his wife's grandmother and they just wanted to get rid of it. I also bought this for 25 cents. It was almost black with grunge so I polished it up a little bit and now it will hold my daily jewelry on my dresser.
What's the best thing you've bought at a garage sale?
Saturday, April 26, 2008
I've been recently admiring vintage plaid thermoses (is that how I make that word plural?) and at the first garage sale I found one for a $1.00!! You can bet it came home with me and was just the first of many awesome purchases I made today.
The last sale we stopped at had four huge tubs of brand new yarn. The owner was a knitter but recently gave it up cause she has been too busy with other things. All the skeins were $.50 each, but she let me fill a big bag full for only $4.00!! Peaches and cream, simply soft, wool, and all sorts of others too! I'm pretty much set for yarn for a while:)
Miss S got two Furbys and a Bratz cat for a total of $.75. She was so excited to pay for them with her own money. I'm saving the best for last...check in tomorrow to see my favorite items purchased today:)

I fear you won't hear from me for the next week while we wear all the newness out of our new toy:):)
PS Spread the word on the ribbon swap!!!
Saturday, April 19, 2008
The ribbon swap is coming along nicely - I'm so happy many of you want to participate! I think it will be a really fun swap. I'll send an email out to everyone after signups end (May 1) with my address.
This week I helped my husband finish his marketing class project. See all those little white pieces? Those are all little arrows that I cut out by hand. Seriously, my hand is still killing me. He better get an A on this project. A little whining, a little swearing, and a little yelling was all it took to put this baby together:) A lovely flow chart of Pottery Barn's daily store functions. I'm so glad I'm not in school anymore.

All right friends, I am just itching to host another swap!! So what do you think about this? A ribbon swap. Who doesn’t love ribbon? Who never has enough ribbon? ME, that’s for sure and I figure there are lots of other ribbon addicts out there tooJ
So here’s the scoop – send me 10 - one yard pieces of ribbon (all of the same ribbon) and you’ll get 10 - one yard lengths of all different ribbons back. (That’s assuming we have ten participants – but I hope we have a lot more than thatJ) Please send ribbon that is at least ¼ inch in width – it can be new ribbon, or vintage ribbon. Try to package your ribbon maybe in little ziplock bags or roll it and secure it with a little pin, or wrap it on a little piece of cardboard (like you can wrap embroidery floss around) – don’t just shove it all in the envelope as wrinkled ribbon is no fun!
Email me at raeshadrz at yahoo dot com to sign up - you can also email me or post here with any questions that you might have. YEAH!!! I'm excited for this swap:)
PS I borrowed the image above from flickr - I WISH all those ribbons were mine:)
PSS Sign ups will be open until May 1.
And I was so happy that so many of you played along that I randomly chose three more winners:)
are all winners too! Ladies - please email me with your snail mail addresses at raeshadrz at yahoo dot com
Have a fantastic day!

And I made this quick little layout for Lain's 30-Minute Thursday Challenge (during the 45 minutes I was home at not at the doctor's office:)). It seriously took me longer to find a piece of red cardstock, then it took me to put the whole layout together. I have offically added red cardstock to my have to buy list. Out of the at least 6,000 pieces of paper I have (I'm not kidding) I could not find a lick of red. I finally found this one piece that was part of an old kit I had, but it did the trick:) The challenge this week was to use a sports photo, scalloped paper, and a sticker.

So without further ado...I present the cutest shoes I have ever seen. Darling red grosgrain bows, little suede red tips that remind me of my toe shoes from ballet when I was younger. And not only are they cute - they are comfortable!! (PS that's not a bruise on my right leg - just a glimpse of my little flower tattoo)
Here's the fun part - guess how much I paid for these darling shoes and you could win a little prize pack of "red" crafting goodies....fabric, buttons, ribbon and more. Here's a couple hints. I"ll did buy them brand new at a store that frequently has BOGO offers and remember - I'm cheap!! I leave the guessing open until Friday:) Good luck!

You left a sweet comment a few weeks ago and I have an ATC for you, could you please email me your name and address to raeshadrz at yahoo dot com
Also - I'm going to be updating my links this next week - please let me know if your link is not working, or if I don't have you added yet and you would like to be:)
I was able to get a little bit done today....I'm still in my pajamas and it's 7:30 p.m. so now I'm off to walk on the treadmill while I was NCIS (I LOVE Mark Harmon), then a quick shower, then clean pjs and heading to bed (after a big dose of NyQuil:))
I took Miss S to a birthday party on the other side of town yesterday and afterwards we hit the Goodwill Clearance center and the regular Goodwill next door. Miss S had never been to the clearance center with me and she was amazed. We scored these goodies for $3.50.
Hello Kitty purse, flag, Barbie cards, copper "Tea" tin, tin, green Gap hat and two needlepointed roses - these are big - about 18 by 18 and I think I might make them into pillows.
My two best finds from Goodwill - an REI vest for Miss S for $1.04 and a Japanese craft book for $1.99!!! Swoon!!! It's all bags and pouches - some are VERY unusual, like a squid zippered pouch. But I just could not pass it up.
Look at these cute stuffed kitties!
and these cool owl bags.
And sweet Dawn sent me a wonderful package this week - just out of the blue - a "Happy Spring" package. Shells from the ocean, tape measure fabric (I've been lusting after fabric like that) a tape measure and some of her grandmother's crochet hooks - some are so tiny that you must be for crocheting thread. And a beautiful bag just for me:)
With a little pocket inside that says "Emergency art supplies". Thank you so much Dawn, I love it all:)
With the lousy week I had, it was such a treat to come home to something fun in the mailbox almost everyday....I love that about blogging!
